Privacy notice

This notice covers the website hitchhikertech.com. It is run by Hitchhiker ("we"), the studio behind Harbour & Co and our games. We are the data controller for the information described here. Contact: hello@hitchhikertech.com.

Our apps and games have their own privacy policies, for example the Starbounce privacy policy.

The short version

• No accounts, no adverts, no analytics and no tracking cookies.
• If you use the contact form or email us, we use your name, email address and message only to reply to you.
• We never sell your information or add you to a mailing list.

The contact form and emails

When you send the contact form, we receive your name, email address and message. They are emailed to our inbox so we can read and answer them. The same applies if you email us directly.

Why we may use it: our legitimate interest in answering the people who contact us, and, if you ask us about work, taking steps you have asked for before any agreement.

How long we keep it: as long as we need it to deal with your message, then no more than two years after we last heard from you, unless it becomes part of work we do for you (then we keep business records for as long as the law requires, usually six years).

Services that help run the website

• Cloudflare hosts the website, and delivers the contact form. When you send the contact form, Cloudflare Turnstile checks you're a person and not a spam bot, using signals from your browser; it doesn't use cookies for advertising. Like any web server, it sees your IP address and browser details when you visit, and keeps short-lived technical logs to run and protect the site.
• Google provides our email inbox (Gmail), where contact form messages and emails arrive.

These companies may handle information outside the UK. When they do, they use safeguards approved under UK law, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or standard contractual clauses.

What the website stores on your device

If you turn the sound on, the site remembers that choice in your browser's local storage, so it stays on next time. Nothing else is stored, and there are no cookies. You can clear it any time in your browser settings.

Links to other sites

The site links to our pages on Instagram, YouTube and Facebook, and to app stores. Those sites have their own privacy policies.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, or stop using it. You can also object to us using it. Email hello@hitchhikertech.com and we will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
